Longtime CBS News Correspondent, Journalism Professor Murray Fromson Dies At 88

Longtime CBS NEWS correspondent MURRAY FROMSON died SATURDAY (6/11) in LOS ANGELES after battling Alzheimer's disease at 88.
FROMSON worked for AP, NBC, and CBS over his 35 year journalism career, reporting on radio and television and covering the Korean and VIETNAM Wars and many other major stories. A founding member of the REPORTERS COMMITTEE FOR FREEDOM OF THE PRESS, FROMSON later served as Deputy Campaign Manager for JERRY BROWN in 1978 and hosted and produced shows for public television, including "ERIC SEVAREID'S CHRONICLE." He joined the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA in 1982, founding the Center for International Journalism, and became Director of the School of Journalism in 1994-99; he was also a fellow at HARVARD's JOAN SHORENSTEIN Center for Press, Politics, and Public Policy.
