Lotus Spins Off KQTH/Tucson To Family Life Broadcasting, KTGV/Tucson To Bustos

The two stations being spun off from the SCRIPPS-LOTUS TUCSON and BOISE deals has found a buyer, as ARIZONA LOTUS CORP. is selling News-Talk KQTH/TUCSON to nonprofit Religion station operator FAMILY LIFE BROADCASTING, INC. and Rhythmic Oldies KTGV (106.3 THE GROOVE)/ORACLE-TUCSON to BUSTOS MEDIA HOLDINGS, LLC. Prices for the transactions have not been disclosed by broker KALIL AND CO. and the deals have yet to appear in the FCC database. LOTUS agreed to spin off KQTH and KTGV to satisfy ownership limits in the TUCSON market when it bought SCRIPPS' TUCSON and BOISE stations for $8 million.
KTGV buyer AMADOR BUSTOS said in a press release, "We are pleased to add 'THE GROOVE' (KTGV) to our recently acquired news talk station (KVOI). TUCSON is a happening university town and THE GROOVE will continue to be part of the good vibe in this diverse community."
In transactions filed with the Commission, PROTELSE LLC is selling the construction permit for a new FM in HICO, TX to CHISHOLM TRAIL COMMUNICATIONS LLC for $12,500.
PAYSON HELPING PAYSON is donating low power KPJM-LP/PAYSON, AZ to KPJM-LP, INC.
Applying for STAs were SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY (WAER/SYRACUSE, transmitter problems) and ALPHA MEDIA LICENSEE LLC (KAAN-A/BETHANY, MO, reduced power due to transmitter damage from lightning strike).
Filing for a Silent STA was MATINEE MEDIA CORPORATION (KAZV/AGUILA, AZ, no generator and engineer after signing on the new station to satisfy construction permit deadline); Requesting extensions of Silent STAs were GOSPEL AMERICAN NETWORK (KKVI-LP/EMORY, TX, relocation) and KAHI CORPORATION (K275BJ/PLACERVILLE, CA, lost site).
UNIVERSAL STATIONS LLC has closed on the sale of Portuguese WJDA-A/QUINCY, MA, Ethnic/Religion WESX-A/NAHANT, MA, and the construction permit for W261DX/QUINCY, MA to LUIS MORALES' REAL MEDIA GROUP, LLC for $450,000 for WJDA and $425,000 for WESX.
RED ZEBRA BROADCASTING has closed on the sale of Sports WTEM-A (THE TEAM 980)/WASHINGTON to URBAN ONE for $4.2 million.
URBAN ONE has also closed on the sale of Gospel WPZR (PRAISE 102.7)/MOUNT CLEMENS-DETROIT, MI to EDUCATIONAL MEDIA FOUNDATION for $12.7 million plus three translators -- W228CJ/DETROIT, W228CU/RIVERVIEW, MI, and W252BX/DETROIT -- that have now combined with its own W260CB and WDMK-HD2 to continue the Gospel format as the "DETROIT PRAISE NETWORK." WPZR is now Contemporary Christian WDKL (K-LOVE), airing EMF's satellite format.
And WVTK RADIO, LLC has closed on the sale of Classic Hits WVTK/PORT HENRY, NY to VOX AM/FM, LLC for $660,000.
