Baseball Hall Of Fame Names Frick Finalists

The BASEBALL HALL OF FAME announces its 10 finalists for the 2007 FORD C. FRICK AWARD. The finalists include two radio broadcasters who passed away in 2005, longtime TORONTO BLUE JAYS voice TOM CHEEK and OAKLAND A's announcer BILL KING.
Also on the list are CINCINNATI REDS announcer and former pitcher JOE NUXHALL; SEATTLE MARINERS voice DAVE NIEHAUS; HALL OF FAME pitcher and malaprop-prone network broadcaster DIZZY DEAN; KANSAS CITY ROYALS announcer DENNY MATTHEWS; CHICAGO WHITE SOX TV analyst and colorful former RED SOX, A's, SENATORS, and INDIANS first baseman-outfielder KEN (HAWK) HARRELSON; former YANKEES shortstop and NBC and CTV announcer TONY KUBEK; pioneering WEAF-A/NEW YORK and NBC broadcaster GRAHAM MCNAMEE; and KMOX-A/ST. LOUIS BROWNS and CARDINALS broadcaster FRANCE LAUX.
KING, NUXHALL, and HARRELSON led fan voting to determine the nominees. The winner will be announced on FEBRUARY 22 and enshrined in COOPERSTOWN on JULY 29.
