Scripps Files Paperwork For SummitMedia Deal With FCC

On an otherwise quiet day for transactions in the FCC database, SCRIPPS BROADCASTING HOLDINGS, LLC has filed the paperwork for the previously-announced sale of its remaining stations to SUMMITMEDIA for $47 million.

The licenses are being transferred to 19 individual SUMMITMEDIA subsidiaries; they include Country KFDI-F, Classic Country KFTI-A (CLASSIC COUNTRY 1070), Classic Rock KFXJ (104.5 THE FOX), Active Rock KICT (T95), and Regional Mexican KYQQ (RADIO LOBO 106.5)/WICHITA; Country KTTS, News-Talk KSGF-A-F, Adult Hits KRVI (106.7 THE RIVER), and Top 40 KSPW (POWER 96.5)/SPRINGFIELD, MO; AC KSRZ (STAR 104.5), Rock KEZO (Z-92), Classic Rock KKCD (CD105.9), Top 40 KQCH (CHANNEL 94.1), and Sports KXSP-A (AM 590 ESPN RADIO)/OMAHA; and Country WCYQ (Q100.3), Top 40/Rhythmic WKHT (HOT 104.5), Classic Hits WNOX, and Top 40 WWST (STAR 102.1)/KNOXVILLE.

In other filings at the FCC, CENTRAL FLORIDA EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION, INC. applied for an STA to operate K245AZ/LEESBURG, FL from its construction permit site at lower power due to damage from Hurricane Irma at its licensed site and delays in upgrading primary station WMYZ/THE VILLAGES, FL.

Requesting Silent STAs were MICRO COMMUNICATIONS, INC. (K244DH/FORT DOUGLAS, UT, "extreme financial distress"); MINISTERIO POR GRACIA DE DIOS (KGPJ-LP/GRAND PRAIRIE, TX, equipment failure); and OREGON PEACEWORKS (KPWI-LP/SALEM, OR, unable to be heard in populated area of SALEM and planning to apply for a permit to move to a "more viable" location).

ALAN J. WHITE has closed on the sale of AC KACH-A and K291CV/PRESTON, ID to VAL R. COOK's PRESTON BROADCASTING, LLC for $235,000.

LAKE AREA EDUCATIONAL BROADCASTING FOUNDATION has closed on the sale of Contemporary Christian KCKJ (SPIRIT FM)/SARCOXIE-JOPLIN, MO to RADIO TRAINING NETWORK, INC. for $135,000.

HOLDING OUT HOPE CHURCH has closed on the sale of W243BF/SHIRLEY, LONG ISLAND, NY to CANTICO NUEVO MINISTRY INC. for payment of back rent of $32,256 to tower landlord SBA COMMUNICATIONS and assumption of its lease, plus 63 hours per week of programming time (weekdays 6a-6p (ET) and SUNDAYS 11a-2p) through AUGUST 31, 2018 on primary station WNYG-A/MEDFORD, NY and its two translators.

And BIG BEND BROADCASTING has closed on the sale of K271BC and K291AZ/BURNET, TX and K267AO/FREDERICKSBURG, TX to RICHARD HERRING.

Also, WXKO LLC's construction permit for W226BZ/MACON, GA has been cancelled at the applicant's request.
