KQED/San Francisco VP/GM Jo Anne Wallace To Retire In November

KQED, INC. News-Talk KQED-F/SAN FRANCISCO VP/GM JO ANNE WALLACE has announced her retirement from the station, effective in late NOVEMBER. WALLACE plans to serve as a consultant for public radio stations after her retirement from KQED.
WALLACE joined KQED in 1990 after nine years at NPR as Dir./Administration and Planning Director of the News Division, where she developed the SATURDAY and SUNDAY "WEEKEND EDITION" and was instrumental in acquiring WHYY/PHILADELPHIA's "FRESH AIR WITH TERRY GROSS" and WBUR/BOSTON's "CAR TALK" for national distribution. She started her career at ANTIOCH COLLEGE's WYSO/YELLOW SPRINGS, OH and later worked at PACIFICA Variety KPFA/BERKELEY-SAN FRANCISCO and WGBH EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION News-Talk WGBH/BOSTON. At KQED, WALLACE oversaw the station's transition, which began three years before her arrival, from music to News-Talk which led to significant ratings success, and led development of shows like "FORUM" and "THE CALIFORNIA REPORT." She has also served three terms on the NPR Board of Directors, including two as Vice Chair.
