CLEAR CHANNEL Urban WUSL (POWER 99)/PHILADELPHIA has announced plans to travel with members of MOTHERS IN CHARGE to deliver holiday pies to families who have lost loved ones to violence this year. Called “THE EMPTY PLATE” campaign, it will kick off at 4p today when members of MOTHERS IN CHARGE will be joined by POWER 99 morning host SAM SYLK to deliver over 300 pies.
DOROTHY JOHNSON SPEIGHT, the organization’s co-founder, says, “The holidays are a very difficult time for families who have lost a member to violence. It’s hard to sit at the table and see an empty plate. The purpose of this campaign is to bring a little sweetness to a bitter time.”
