JOSH LEWIN is exiting the radio booth for NEW YORK METS baseball, but he hinted this weekend that he has a new deal elsewhere lined up, and the NEW YORK POST is reporting that LEWIN will be heading back to SAN DIEGO as pre-game and post-game host for SAN DIEGO PADRES broadcasts.
After the NEW YORK DAILY NEWS' BOB RAISSMAN reported that LEWIN is being dropped from the METS broadcasts after six seasons as the team moves from iHEARTMEDIA News-Talk WOR-A/NEW YORK to crosstown ENTERCOM News WCBS-A/NEW YORK, LEWIN tweeted, "Can't tell you details yet because my contract isn't signed yet, but i will indeed announce an exciting new opportunity for me and my family soon. It's all good, I promise."
And he told the NEW YORK POST that "Earlier this week, I removed myself from consideration as part of the METS’ radio team. Instead I will be accepting an offer away from NEW YORK, with details coming as soon as the contracts get signed.”
But later MONDAY, the POST reported that LEWIN’s destination is ENTERCOM sister Sports KWFN (97.3 THE FAN)/SAN DIEGO, where he will serve as studio host for PADRES games. TED LEITNER and JESSE AGLER will continue as the play-by-play team for the PADRES.
The rest of the METS radio team on WCBS is yet to be formally announced, although it appears that HOWIE ROSE will return under a new contract; pre-game and post-game host WAYNE RANDAZZO's future may involve moving to the game broadcasts.
LEWIN is the radio voice of UCLA football and men's basketball and previously called BALTIMORE ORIOLES, CHICAGO CUBS, DETROIT TIGERS and TEXAS RANGERS major league baseball, ROCHESTER RED WINGS minor league baseball, and SAN DIEGO CHARGERS football as well as FOX national baseball telecasts and BIG TEN NETWORK football..
Hey guys, I understand there's a report out there about my leaving the Mets. Can't tell you details yet because my contract isn't signed yet, but i will indeed announce an exciting new opportunity for me and my family soon. It's all good, I promise. Thanks much
