Radio-Mercury Awards Add Urban Category

The 2007 RADIO-MERCURY AWARDS will add a category for radio spots airing on Urban format stations. The new Urban category will award $5,000 and a signature trophy, and finalists in the category will be eligible for the $100,000 grand prize.
"By adding this new category into the RADIO-MERCURY AWARDS, we recognize the importance of the ever-growing Urban format, its large and loyal customer base, and its impact on general market advertising," said RAB Pres./CEO JEFF HALEY. "We also seek to increase participation from the African-American and multicultural advertising agencies and their clients."
