HUBBARD Sports KSTP-A (1500 ESPN)/ST. PAUL-MINNEAPOLIS is rebranding as "SKOR NORTH," which the company in a press release described as a "digital-first sports content brand."
SKOR (not "Skol," the toast used as the VIKINGS' fan chant) NORTH's new schedule, to begin TUESDAY (1/15), will retain ESPN RADIO's GOLIC AND WINGO (5-9a (CT)) and DAN LEBATARD SHOW WITH STUGOTZ (9a-noon) but will drop ESPN RADIO's STEPHEN A. SMITH and WILL CAIN from middays in favor of a year-round VIKINGS hour, "PURPLE DAILY" at noon, a 1-2p hour of seasonal programming (a second hour of PURPLE DAILY during football season, the "SKOR NORTH WOLVES SHOW" during NBA season, and the "SKOR NORTH TWINS SHOW" for baseball season), and a new "SKOR NORTH LIVE WITH MATTHEW COLLER" 2-4p. The incumbent JUDD ZULGAD and PHIL MACKEY show (3-6p) will add comedian and former ENTERCOM Sports WSSP-A-W289CB (105.7 THE FAN)/MILWAUKEE "THE BIG SHOW" host RAMIE MAKHLOUF as a third host. A 6p hour will include a rotation of the TWINS and WOLVES show, "THE BEER SHOW," and MINNEAPOLIS STAR TRIBUNE columnist and former longtime KSTP host PATRICK REUSSE's "REUSSE UNCHAINED."
The station has experienced several changes in the past months, including the end of the longrunning "GARAGE LOGIC" with ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS columnist JOE SOUCHERAY (now a podcast via the station and PODCASTONE) and REUSSE and SOUCHERAY's "SPORTS TALK" and the exit of PD BRAD LANE.
