CBS Rock KUFO/PORTLAND has named veteran radio and music industry figure MIKE TIERNEY as PD, effective JANUARY 2. TIERNEY, most recently with BLUE TEAM MUSIC MANAGEMENT AND CONSULTING, has served at stations like KUBE and KPLZ/SEATTLE and WQHT (HOT 97)/NEW YORK as well as VH1, EPIC RECORDS, and DAVE MATTHEWS' ATO RECORDS. He replaces DAVE NUMME, who transferred to sister Alternative KITS (LIVE 105)/SAN FRANCISCO earlier this FALL.
"I couldn't be more excited about getting back into radio at KUFO in PORTLAND," said TIERNEY in a press release. "DAVE NUMME, MARK WALEN, the air personalities, and the entire team have put it on a very short list of the best-branded stations in any market, in any format. It will be a challenge to maintain those standards and meet the listeners' expectations, while evolving to address the changing face of radio, rock music, and the media at large. PORTLAND has a buzz right now that is unbelievable -- energetic, creative, and cutting edge -- and music is an essential part of that. This is a planets-aligning opportunity for me personally: perfect station, perfect place, perfect time. I am thrilled to join the team at KUFO, and I look forward to big things in 2007 and beyond."
