The first-ever SEAN DEMERY INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARD was given out last week at the WORLDWIDE RADIO SUMMIT. DEMERY had been a well-loved programmer for both the Alternative and Triple A formats, with his last gig being PD at ALPHA MEDIA Triple A KINK/PORTLAND, OR before suffering a debilitating stroke.MCGUINN also has history of programming on both the Alternative and Triple A side – he is now PD at MINNESOTA PUBLIC RADIO Triple A KCMP (THE CURRENT). MINNEAPOLIS.In addition to MCGUINN, the late JOE RAINEY, former SVP/Pop Promotion & Marketing at CAPITOL RECORDS was also honored with the SEAN DEMERY INDEPENDENT SPIRIT AWARD.In attendance for the award ceremony were DEMERY’s wife, JENNIFER PROCHAZKA, DEMERY’s longtime friend and former 99X colleague LESLIE FRAM of CMT and 99X fellow allumn STEVE CRAIG now at WSRV/ATLANTA.
