History was made last night (4/1) as 12,000 fans filled NASHVILLE's BRIDGESTONE ARENA to the brim to celebrate the legendary LORETTA LYNN's 87th birthday. The event was hosted by Country singer-songwriter CAM, who started the show by telling LYNN, "Sit back, relax and enjoy, because it's all for you."
Some of Country music's greatest stars celebrated LYNN with performances of her iconic songs throughout the night, including KACEY MUSGRAVES singing "You Ain't Woman Enough (To Take My Man)," MIRANDA LAMBERT with "Don't Come Home A Drinkin' (With Lovin' On Your Mind)," DARIUS RUCKER performing "The Pill," and BRANDI CARLILE, who received a standing ovation with her rendition of "She's Got You."
In addition to solo performances, several artists joined forces to re-create LYNN's classic duets. They included GARTH BROOKS and TRISHA YEARWOOD with "After The Fire Is Gone," MARTINA McBRIDE and GEORGE STRAIT with "Lead Me On," and ALAN JACKSON with LEE ANN WOMACK singing "Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man."
In addition to stellar performances, LYNN was treated to many lasting memories, including KEITH URBAN emerging from a birthday cake onstage while the entire crowd sang "Happy Birthday." The night concluded with LYNN accompanying all of the performers and some family members onstage for an unforgettable group performance of "Coal Miner's Daughter."
The event, produced by THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE," raised money for THE LORETTA LYNN FUND in support of THE COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM and the OPRY TRUST FUND. Additional performers included ALISON KRAUSS, BRANDY CLARK, CRYSTAL GAYLE, HOLLY WILLIAMS, JACK WHITE, LITTLE BIG TOWN, MARGO PRICE, PISTOL ANNIES, RANDY HOUSER, and TANYA TUCKER.
