iHEARTMEDIA national personality BOBBY BONES has joined the soon-to-be-launched Fan Controlled Football League (FCFL) as a team owner and “fan captain.” Launching later this year, the FCFL is being billed as “the first professional sports league where fans call all the shots.” Games will be presented in the FCFL mobile app and TWITCH interactive video experience that gives fans control over team decisions down to the plays on the field.
The inaugural 2019 FCFL season will feature eight teams, each led by a celebrity team owner who also serves as a “fan captain.” Joining BONES as team owners are NFL stars MARSHAWN LYNCH, RICHARD SHERMAN, and CHAD “OCHOCINCO” JOHNSON, Latin music star PRINCE ROYCE, and TWITCH streamers KINDA FUNNY. The FCFL will be announcing its remaining owners in the coming weeks.
BONES will lead his squad’s fans in creating the brand, voice and personality of his team, as well as helping them through key decisions including hiring and firing coaches, drafting players, and calling plays in real time.
“I've been a pretty proud football fan for as long as I can remember, but becoming an owner in the FCFL was a no-brainer because the fans literally lead the way and call the shots,” said BONES. “The league is innovative, different, and I’m excited for the #BTeam to join me in another crazy journey.”
“Country music and football go hand in hand, so adding one of Country music’s biggest personalities – who was just recently an NFL Draft correspondent for ABC and ESPN – to our roster of team owners is only natural,” said FCFL CEO SOHROB FARUDI. “What a lot of people don't realize about BOBBY is that he has incredibly deep sports knowledge besides being a fierce competitor, which we all saw when he won ‘Dancing with the Stars.’ We're excited to have him bring his legion of Country music fans to the FCFL."
