iHEARTMEDIA News-Talk WHO-A/DES MOINES' longtime morning team VAN HARDEN and BONNIE LUCAS were inducted into the IOWA BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION Hall of Fame THURSDAY (6/14) at the IBA annual awards luncheon in WEST DES MOINES. HARDEN and LUCAS became the fourth and fifth WHO personalities to be inducted into the Hall, after JACK SHELLEY, JIM ZABEL and KEITH KIRKPATRICK.
In addition, TRENDING MEDIA News-Talk KFJB-A-Country KXIA (KIX 101.1)/MARSHALLTOWN, IA GM/Co-Owner TODD STEINKAMP was named Broadcaster of the Year for his efforts to keep the stations on the air after a tornado hit MARSHALLTOWN last JULY.
“Just coming to a job you love where you can have fun and help people every day is amazing enough in itself,” said HARDEN. “Especially when I’ve been able to do it with such an uplifting and fun co-host for over three decades. Being inducted into the IOWA BROADCASTING Hall of Fame with so many incredible broadcasters is truly a surreal and over-the-top experience.”
“This job is not work,” said LUCAS. “It’s having fun talking with your friends, inviting them into your world. It’s being in the middle of all the news that’s happening both locally and all around the world. It’s working with a co-host for decades who has been my friend for 40 years. We don’t do this for awards, but this award is extremely special.”
