COX MEDIA GROUP News-Talk WSB-A-WSBB (NEWS 95.5 AND AM750 WSB)/ATLANTA raised over $1.7 million -- nearly breaking its 2017 record -- for the AFLAC CANCER & BLOOD DISORDERS CENTER of CHILDREN'S HEALTHCARE OF ATLANTA in its 19th annual WSB Care-a-Thon on FRIDAY (7/26). Hosts SCOTT SLADE, CLARK HOWARD, ERIC VON HAESSLER, MARK ARUM, ERICK ERICKSON, NEAL BOORTZ, and BRIAN KILMEADE were among the personalities participating, and FALCONS QB MATT RYAN, GEORGIA Gov. BRIAN KEMP, AFLAC Chairman/CEO DAN AMOS, and others were on hand as well.
“We are thankful to WSB RADIO and their dedicated listeners for being our partners in raising awareness and desperately needed funding for pediatric cancer and blood disorders research at the AFLAC CANCER CENTER,” said CHILDREN'S HEALTHCARE OF ATLANTA Foundation and External Affairs Pres. RON FRIESON. “In 19 years, we have raised more than $24 million to support the patients and families we serve. We could not do this important work without the support of WSB and its listeners.”
Dir. of Branding and Programming PETE SPRIGGS said, “There is an extraordinary local story to tell at the AFLAC CANCER CENTER -- one that is filled with emotion and hope. Our entire team considers it the honor of their careers to be able to tell that story, and to meet the kids, parents, families, doctors, nurses and caregivers there. But our listeners deserve all the credit, due to their incredible generosity year after year.”
