Digital Deal: FUGA Buys Songspace

Digital supply chain and marketing company FUGA has acquired rights management/creative workflow platform SONGSPACE, which consolidates music publishing assets such as metadata, audio files, agreements and writer contacts and identifies gaps in such data, including accreditation and lyrics, MUSIC BUSINESS WORLDWIDE reports.
FUGA's platform -- which manages 4.5 million tracks with 500-plus clients that include EPITAPH RECORDS, ULTRA, DOMINOCURB, MOM + POP and mTHEORY -- is listed on the highest distributor tier for both SPOTIFY and APPLE. SONGSPACE -- which boasts 50 publishers and record labels such as KOBALT, RESERVOIR MEDIA, DOWNTOWN MUSIC PUBLISHING, BIG DEAL MUSIC and SENTRIC -- will “provide the only unified, end-to-end solution for record labels and music publishers that supports the full lifecycle of music" and has “clear use value for sync and a flexible data model that drives the administration capabilities required for accurate royalty collection, including works registration, analytics, and tracking,” FUGA's statement read.
SONGSPACE will continue to operate as a standalone platform with its entire leadership remaining in place as FUGA will make a “significant investment” into its platform over the next two years.
