EDITOR'S NOTE: Since this story was initially posted in AUGUST 2019, all charges were dropped against FRYE in JUNE 2021.
Former COX MEDIA GROUP Country WKHO (K99.1)/DAYTON morning co-host FRYE GUY (JAMES FRYE) was reportedly arrested at his home on JUNE 29th on multiple charges, including domestic violence threats, aggravated menacing and child endangering, according to several local media reports. One such report, which cited court records, came from local TV outlet FOX 28 (WKEF/WRGY), and said FREY posted bond from the KETTERING Jail on JULY 1st and has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
COX MEDIA GROUP OHIO VP/Marketing and Radio NICK ROBERTS told ALL ACCESS, “James Frye ‘Frye Guy’ is no longer with K99.1FM WHKO. His contract expired at the end of JUNE and we opted to not renew it. We wish him the best.”
FRYE’s attorney, KEVIN LENNEN, told FOX 28, "Once evidence comes out it will be easily demonstrated that he's not guilty of the charges that are alleged. We are just waiting for our day in court."
FRYE joined the station’s morning show in 2010 (NET NEWS 10/5/10), arriving from crosstown MAINLINE BROADCASTING former Top 40 WGTZ, where he worked before it flipped to Adult Hits as FLY 92.9.
