Americana Music Association Announces Its 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award Honorees

The AMERICANA MUSIC ASSOCIATION will honor a slate of musical luminaries with its Lifetime Achievement Awards at its 18th annual “AMERICANA HONORS & AWARDS SHOW,” set for WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11th at NASHVILLE’s RYMAN AUDITORIUM. The honorees, announced today (8/13), will be celebrated songwriters FELICE and BOUDLEAUX BRYANT (receiving the organization’s President’s Award posthumously); ELVIS COSTELLO (Songwriting Award), DELBERT MCCLINTON (Performance Award) and MARIA MULDAUR (Trailblazer Award).
Additional honorees will include MAVIS STAPLES, who will be making her AMERICANA AWARDS & HONORS debut appearance. RHIANNON GIDDENS and the late FRANK JOHNSON will each be honored with the inaugural Legacy of Americana Award, presented in partnership with the NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSIC.
In addition to these Lifetime Achievement Awards, the association also honors distinguished members of the music community with six member-voted annual awards, which will be revealed during the show. View all the “AMERICANA HONORS & AWARDS” nominees here.
The show serves as the central event during the AMERICANA MUSIC ASSOCIATION’S 20th annual AMERICANAFEST®, taking place SEPTEMBER 10-15 in downtown NASHVILLE.
