It's been a while since word leaked out that DAN SNYDER's RED ZEBRA BROADCASTING was trying to buy BONNEVILLE Classical WGMS/WASHINGTON for his TRIPLE X ESPN RADIO sports programming, but now BONNEVILLE/DC SVP/Market Mgr. JOEL OXLEY tells his own News WTOP that "it appears we've hit an impasse" in negotiations and that the company has "no current plans for moving off classical [from WGMS] unless there is another home for classical."
"BONNEVILLE is absolutely committed to doing everything possible to keep classical music in this market," WTOP quotes OXLEY as saying. He added that BONNEVILLE would not bump the programming off its other DC stations, including News/Talk WTWP-A-F (WASHINGTON POST RADIO), to accommodate Classical if WGMS flips.
We have no current plans for moving off classical unless there is another home for classical.
