Paragon: Urban Alternative Could Be The Next Big Format

PARAGON MEDIA STRATEGIES Founder/CEO MIKE HENRY spoke at the PUBLIC RADIO PROGRAM DIRECTORS CONFERENCE last week, presenting research that was bullish on the new Urban Alternative format for public radio. Results from five U.S. markets show that the audience appeal of Urban Alternative is so positive that if it was a stock, the recommendation would be to “buy now.” 

Made possible by grants from the CORPORATION FOR PUBLIC BROADCASTING,Urban Alt mixes Hip-Hop, R&B, Urban, Soul, Rap and local music presented by local hosts who curate the music. Two stations are already airing the format -- VOCALO in CHICAGO and THE DROP in DENVER.
