Report: WRKO Still Courting Pol For Hosting Job Despite Planned Guilty Plea

ENTERCOM Talk WRKO-A/BOSTON is still trying to sign former MASSACHUSETTS House Speaker TOM FINNERAN to host mornings, according to the BOSTON HERALD, which reports that the station wants to sign FINNERAN despite his reported plan to plead guilty to federal obstruction of justice charges. Spokesman GEORGE REGAN told the HERALD that Market Manager JULIE KAHN "has a great deal of respect for TOM FINNERAN and thinks he would be terrific on the radio and would look forward to working with him on WRKO."
FINNERAN is set to plead guilty FRIDAY (1/5) in a plea bargain that would allow him to avoid jail time, with perjury charges being dropped in the deal; he will also reportedly agree not to seek political office for the next five years and will be subject to disbarment proceedings. The charges stemmed from FINNERAN's alleged misrepresentation of his participation in a legislative redistricting that minimized minority voters' impact; FINNERAN allegedly misstated his role in the 2001 plan when testifying in a civil suit by the BLACK POLITICAL CAUCUS.
What ENTERCOM's open courtship of FINNERAN means for incumbent morning host SCOTT ALLEN MILLER is unclear.
