ALL ACCESS first reported the sad news of the sudden passing of highly-respected producer and songwriter MICHAEL RYAN, known professionally as BUSBEE last night (NET NEWS 9/29), and we send our deepest condolences to his family, friends and musical collaborators. He was 43 years old. VARIETY reports that he had been “diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a form of brain cancer, over the summer and was undergoing treatment.”
MAREN MORRIS was among those breaking the news via TWITTER, where she posted, “This just doesn’t seem fair. I will always love you and the songs and albums I was lucky to make with you, BUSBEE. Rest well, my sweet friend.”
And others in Country expressed their saddness at BUSBEE's sudden passing:
The GRAMMY-nominated BUSBEE was signed as a songwriter to WARNER/CHAPPELL MUSIC. In DECEMBER 2018, he launched the artist and songwriter development company ALTADENA MUSIC in a joint venture with WARNER BROS. RECORDS that also included a creative partnership with RED LIGHT MANAGEMENT (NET NEWS 12/10/18).
In addition to MORRIS, BUSBEE is known for his work with LADY ANTEBELLUM, SHAKIRA, 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER, GWEN STEFAN, KEITH URBAN and many others, and has written hits for CARRIE UNDERWOOD, FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE, RASCAL FLATTS, KELLY CLARKSON, P!NK, CARLY PEARCE and more.
He leaves behind a wife and three young children.
