In the wake of this morning’s (10/17) death of legendary Country radio broadcaster BOB KINGSLEY (NET NEWS 10/17), Country artists have taken to social media to pay tribute with moving, heartfelt posts. Here are a few of them.
KENNY CHESNEY: "I listened to BOB KINGSLEY every SUNDAY as a child and as a college kid driving from KNOXVILLE to JOHNSON CITY. I had heroes in Country music, and BOB KINGSLEY brought those heroes closer to me. He made them real, made them human, and later when my career took off, validated my own dream when he would talk about my songs and my journey. He was a friend, not just an associate within the business but a true friend. He was also a true friend of the genre of Country music, and it will never be the same without his voice. I’m going to miss him."
KEITH URBAN: “Today I lost a longtime great friend and we lost a beautiful human named BOB KINGSLEY. Every memory I have of being with BOB (and [WIFE] NAN) is one of rare warmth and grace. I will miss you dearly BOB. Peace be with your spirit, and blessings and peace be with your family today.”
TOBY KEITH: “RIP BOB KINGSLEY. The voice. Genuine professional and a giver. I never met a nicer guy in my life. Rest well cowboy.”
LOCASH: "The voice. The man. The friend ... From day one you’ve been in our corner. We truly lost one of the good ones. Rest easy brother, till we meet again.”
RANDY HOUSER: “Hard to imagine a world without this amazing man blasting my radio on SUNDAYS. He was always so kind to me. Will be missed. RIP buddy.”
TRAVIS DENNING: “Damn man. RIP to BOB KINGSLEY. Absolutely [a] Country radio legend … Such an amazing guy.”
THOMPSON SQUARE: “BOB KINGSLEY, your voice is gonna be so missed on the Country radio airwaves. There was nothing else in this world like hearing you intro our songs on the countdown. Rest in peace friend.”
CLINT BLACK: “BOB KINGSLEY was a favorite in our radio world, both as a professional and as a person. We are wishing his family and friends comfort and peace of mind in their time of loss.”
TRAVIS TRITT: “So sad to hear the news that legendary broadcaster @BOBKINGSLEYct40 has died. BOB was a good friend to me throughout my career. All my love and deepest condolences to his family.”
JOHN MICHAEL MONTGOMERY: “I will never forget hearing BOB KINGSLEY say my name the first time I broke [the] top 40 in #AmericanCountryCountdown with ‘Life's A Dance.’ That's when I knew I had made it! As a kid, I couldn't wait to listen to him every weekend. Thank you for the memories. Rest in peace.”
JACK INGRAM: “My friend, BOB KINGSLEY, passed away. That hurts. He was as passionate about music as anybody I’ve met and shared that with the world! He took care of us and our songs. I have a good feeling that will continue where he’s headed. Godspeed, BOB.”
THE OAK RIDGE BOYS: "So sorry to hear that radio broadcasting legend BOB KINGSLEY has gone home. He was always so very good to us."
RADNEY FOSTER: “I am so sad at the loss this morning of my friend BOB KINGSLEY. He was a giant in Country music, a good friend, and a father figure to my wife. Praying for NAN and the rest of his family.”
