Corus Q1 Revenues, Income Up

CORUS ENTERTAINMENT fiscal first-quarter consolidated revenues rose 7% to C$209.2 million, with radio revenues up 4% to C$75.6 million. Radio's local revenue was flat, while national sales jumped 13%. The company's stations in ONTARIO and WESTERN CANADA were credited for the increase, while the company's QUEBEC stations lagged. Net income rose from C$31.4 million to C$36.7 million (73 to 87 cents/basic share, 72 to 85 cents/diluted share).
"During the first three months of this fiscal year, our team has executed well on our strategic initiatives," said Exec. Chair HEATHER SHAW. "We will continue to focus on operational excellence to ensure we deliver strong results to our shareholders."
