WSCR's North Defends Self In School Field Naming Controversy

CBS Sports WSCR (670 THE SCORE)/CHICAGO morning host MIKE NORTH defended himself WEDNESDAY evening before a local school board in the dispute over naming an athletic field after him, asserting that while he has "plenty of flaws," he is "absolutely not" a racist.
The controversy at the SENN HIGH SCHOOL COUNCIL erupted last month over the plans to rename the field after NORTH, who attended the school, called CUBS pitcher JAE KUK RYU a "Chinaman" on the air. NORTH has since apologized, but some community activists are not accepting the apology. Nevertheless, the board decided not to vote on the isse last night, leaving the decision to the ward alderman who originally proposed the name change.
