GOOD KARMA BROADCASTING Top 40/Rhythmic WKPO/MADISON has finished stunting, and the format wheel has landed on Classic Rock. Last week, WKPO, after playing NAS' "Hip Hop Is Dead" over 200 consecutive times, began stunting with liners announcing that a new format was on the way while bouncing through several formatic identities previously tried in MADISON. The format debuted SATURDAY (1/13) at 10a as 105.9 THE HOG launched playing "Everything That Rocks" from the 1970s to today.
GOOD KARMA/MADISON GM KEITH WILLIAMS was quoted in the JANESVILLE (WI) GAZETTE as saying, "HOT 105.9's Hip-Hop format, the only one in southern WISCONSIN outside of MILWAUKEE, gained a strong audience but could not generate enough advertising revenue." WILLIAMS added that no employees from WKPO's old format would be fired but they may be reassigned in the GOOD KARMA cluster. HOT 105.9 PD DAN HUNT remains in place with THE HOG.
HOT 105.9's morning show will be replaced by the "BOB AND BRIAN" show from SAGA Rock WHQH (102.9 THE HOG)MILWAUKEE.
