The AUSTIN RADIO NETWORK (ARN), which includes Country KOKE and Sports KTXX/KTAE (THE HORN)/AUSTIN, is joining forces with THE CENTRAL TEXAS FOOD BANK for the "Buy a Box" food drive campaign. With the CENTRAL TEXAS FOOD BANK seeing over a 200% demand increase from FEBRUARY to MARCH in TRAVIS COUNTY alone, the campaign urges listeners to donate $30 for a 28-lb emergency food box containing 23 meals, consisting of proteins, dairy, fruits and vegetables.
The radiothon kicked off on MONDAY (4/13), and the pinnacle happened TODAY (4/15), with BOB COLE from the "KOKE in the Morning" show and BUCKY GODBOLT of THE HORN's "Mornings with BUCKY & ERIN" show hosting a two-hour radiothon simulcast on all ARN frequencies, station websites and station apps. Guests included UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS head football coach TOM HERMAN, County Commissioner JEFF TRAVILLION and UT men's basketball coach SHAKA SMART.
"This is an unprecedented time in our community," said ARN Operation Dir. and KOKE PD ERIC RAINES. "Our radio stations feel it is especially important to raise money and awareness for THE CENTRAL TEXAS FOOD BANK due to the ever growing need in our area. We are proud to put all the force of the AUSTIN RADIO NETWORK behind this drive."
