WESTWOOD ONE's blog post for this week includes takeaways from the syndicator's latest survey of AM/FM radio listeners, looking at their behaviors and what they want from radio right now.
The survey, conducted MARCH 31st through APRIL 8th and including a sample of 1,154 listeners, found that 60% of heavy AM/FM radio listeners who normally work outside the home are still commuting to work, greater than the 47% of the general population; 25% of smart speaker owners don't know how to listen to AM/FM radio stations on the devices and 20% of smartphone owners are in the same boat, compared to 17% of computer users and 26% of tablet owners; the top perception of radio is localism (27%), and radio is a "strong number two to television for information perceptions," while social media is the subject of "very little trust among consumers"; and 72-78% of listeners want normal programming, not programming specially focused on the pandemic.
