Condolences to the family and friends of BOB FRIEND, thee man the AKRON BEACON JOURNAL reports, "introduced THE BEATLES at their first NORTHEAST OHIO appearance and later hosted a long-running radio show called 'The Dream Machine'.” 

FRIEND was 87, and best known for hosting nights on WAKR-A/AKRON.

“It’s really tough,” his wife LEE told THE JOURNAL. “I woke up yesterday and said, ‘OK, Day Two without my husband.’ It’s tough. It’s tough. He was so well loved and known and respected. He was a holy man. We are having a little Mass with 10 people on WEDNESDAY at St. Bernard Catholic Church in AKRON."
