KQID Midday Host Arrested

THE ALEXANDRIA TOWN TALK reports that a KQID/ALEXANDRIA personality was arrested this past weekend on theft and other charges. JENNIFER LYNN KNIERY, who was known as JEN on-air, had worked off and on at KQID for several years, said KQID GM TAYLOR THOMPSON. While the paper referred to her as the station's morning co-host, she had actually been handling middays since the beginning of this year.
"Well, it was a very unfortunate situation, and I'll regret it very much," THOMPSON said of KNIERY's arrest, calling her a "former employee."
KNIERY was arrested and charged with two counts of theft, $300 to $500, and unauthorized use of an access card -- a felony -- after she was accused of stealing a wallet and other personal items from two women at the CENTRAL LOUISIANA Bridal Extravaganza held at the ALEXANDRIA RIVERFRONT CENTER.
KQID PD RON ROBERTS tells ALL ACCESS, "KQID and CENLA BROADCASTING are deeply troubled by the alleged actions of Miss KNIERY. Her alleged actions affected a co-worker and an employee of a bridal expo co-sponsor, though, not any patrons or guests. In any event, her employment at CENLA BROADCASTING has been terminated.
"It’s unfortunate that our daily newspaper has had so many column-inches to dedicate to what would otherwise be a 'police blotter' note were it anyone else in any lesser-exposed occupation. I say 'unfortunate,' because when this station (with JEN’s assistance) raised $75,000 for the local CHILDREN'S MIRACLE NETWORK in our first-ever radiothon last fall, the same newspaper failed to cover the event. I say 'unfortunate' because when this station collected candy for and distributed to local hospitalized children on Halloween (with JEN’s assistance), this same daily newspaper didn’t feel the event was worthy of coverage. That’s the nature of the beast though."
ROBERTS adds that he's looking for "an office-friendly, but hip, 'The View'-esque up-and-comer" to take on middays at Q93. "First-timers looking to work their first Arbitron-rated daypart are encouraged; women are strongly encouraged too." Get your package to RON ROBERTS at KQID, 1115 TEXAS AVENUE, ALEXANDRIA, LA 71301.
