February 1, 2007 at 3:40 PM (PT)
EMMIS AAA KGSR/AUSTIN PD/afternooner JODY DENBERG has been named Content Manager for the station. DENBERG's new responsibilities will encompass the musical, artistic, and interactive content for KGSR, online, and the future inception of 107.1FM-HD2, which will launch in mid-2007. DENBERG has been with KGSR since its inception in 1990. He will retain afternoon duties.
EMMIS/AUSTIN VP/Market Manager SCOTT GILLMORE said, "JODY DENBERG provides the artistic vision for KGSR. With the rest of the KGSR team, JODY artfully discovers and introduces new music, then weaves it with a variety of genres to create a tapestry that a music player on random can’t duplicate. They have made KGSR an important part of the AUSTIN community, and this position will allow JODY to concentrate on bringing this musical vision to more music lovers."
"I am looking forward to my new position as Content Manager -- it's really not so much a new role as a chance to solely focus on the things that made me excited about radio in the first place," said DENBERG. "After 16 years as KGSR's only Program Director, my role -- and that of program directors in the industry -- has come to involve more administrative duties and less music. I am thankful for the chance to concentrate more on the music and the future of how it is delivered."
EMMIS/AUSTIN OM THOMAS CHASE noted, "As the radio platform continues to expand into other interactive media outlets, such as the web, streaming audio, and HD, it is imperative now, more than ever, that we are firmly aware of the content our industry delivers. JODY is a master at content, and I am confident he will continue to build on the heritage of KGSR, while innovating the craft of radio."
