ARBITRON has issued a custom study showing what might seem to be an obvious thing: a jump in adults 18 and over listening to sports radio in INDIANAPOLIS and CHICAGO in the week before the SUPER BOWL. The study showed 54% of adults in INDIANAPOLIS and 52% in CHICAGO saying they listened to sports radio that week, with 37% in INDY but just 14% in CHICAGO saying they listened "a lot more." However, the study showed half of INDIANAPOLIS adults saying they followed the pre-game coverage "very closely" while only 29% in CHICAGO said the same.
In addition, the study showed 35% of INDY adults and 24% of CHICAGO adults saying they listened to radio pre-game coverage, with 24% in INDY and 16% in CHICAGO saying they listened to radio play-by-play and 22% in INDY and just 10% in CHICAGO, for obvious reasons, sticking around for the post-game coverage.
