TRIBUNE CO.'s fourth-quarter radio/entertainment division revenues leaped 28.2% to $30.421 million, but operating profit dropped from $3.88 million to a loss of $1.528 million. Overall broadcasting and entertainment revenues (including television) rose 11% to $356 million, with operating profit up 7% to $106 million. The results reflect a boost from an additional week in fourth quarter 2006 over fourth quarter 2005. Consolidated revenues for the company rose 5.4% to $1.5 billion, with operating profit up 22.6% to $323.4 million.
While TRIBUNE does not break out results for its only radio property, Talk WGN-A/CHICAGO, the company said that higher revenues for the station as well as the CHICAGO CUBS, partially offset by a drop at TV production company TRIBUNE ENTERTAINMENT, contributed to a rise in radio/entertainment division revenues.
