WTGZ Launching New Programming

TIGER COMMUNICATIONS Alternative WTGZ (THE TIGER)/AUBURN-MONTGOMERY, AL has new lineup of specialty shows for SUNDAY evenings. Beginning MARCH 4, THE TIGER will add two new shows leading into "HARDDRIVE" at 7p.
From 4-6p, WTGZ will air "THE ALTERNATIVE ENCYCLOPEDIA," a history of the alternative format focusing on a different letter each week.
WTGZ PD KEVIN JACKSON said, "We’ll start with artists the letter A and then go at least 26 weeks from there. I’m hoping to be able to archive the shows so the listeners can access them later. At the end of the run, we have a few ideas on how we might continue the show in a different format if it proves successful. But if nothing else, we want to try and give our listeners a base of artists that help make up the format they know today. We figured with the university here, we might as well do an alternative history lesson of sorts."
At 6p, THE TIGER will be giving listeners a chance to program the station for an hour. A listener-submitted playlist will be chosen each week with the listener’s name featured throughout the hour in liners.
JACKSON noted, "This seems like a great way to reach out to our listeners and make them a part of our station while learning some more about what they want to hear."
