ANNA NICOLE SMITH's mother, VIRGIE ARTHUR, called EMMIS Rhythmic AC KMVN (MOViN 93.9)/LOS ANGELES morning star RICK DEES this morning (2/9) and implied that drugs may have caused her daughter's death yesterday at age 39.
"I knew she was on drugs and so did everyone else," ARTHUR said. "This is a devastating situation, and I just don’t want any jokes at this time."
DEES expressed his condolences and promised to get the word out to the media asking them to refrain from insensitive comments.
"I was so touched that VIRGIE chose to call me," DEES said. "I pledged that I would get the message out and offered our prayers to her family."
