More FCC Fines: Public File, EEO, Late License Renewal Filings Hit

The FCC lowers the boom on BOONE BIBLICAL MINISTRIES INC. with a proposed $20,000 fine for public file violations at Southern Gospel KFFF-A-F (formerly KFGQ-A & F)/BOONE, IA. The licensee told the FCC that the files had been misplaced but it later recreated much of the content. The Commission renewed the stations' licenses while issuing a Notice of Apparent Liability for Forfeiture.
Affiliated companies INLAND EMPIRE BROADCASTING CORP. and SBR BROACASTING CORP. were also hit with an NALF for $5,000 each for EEO violations at Oldies KOLA and Active Rock KCAL-F/SAN BERNARDINO-RIVERSIDE, CA. The FCC ruled that the companies failed to recruit for every full-time vacancy, filling four of 10 slots in two reporting periods solely on the basis of referrals from clients, salespeople, and others, "revealing a continuing lack of self-assessment."
And the Commission's avalanche of proposed fines for late license renewal applications continues, with $1,500 fines proposed for ALACCA BIBLE CONFERENCE ($1,500 each for K215AB/KAMIAH. ID and K213BN/OROFINO, ID), LA PROMESA FOUNDATION (K217CM/CLAYTON, NM), and BIBLE BROADCASTING NETWORK INC. (K217EY/LARAMIE, WY); a $3,500 fine for FIRST IV MEDIA INC. (KGAF-A/GAINSVILLE, TX); and $7,000 fines for WEST TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY (KWTS/CANYON, TX), TEXAS SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY (KTSU/HOUSTON), SAM HOUSTON STATE UNIVERSITY (KSHU/HUNTSVILLE, TX), and BOUNDARY COUNTY TV TRANSLATOR DISTRICT ($7,000 each for K220AE, K257DH, K265AV, K296BJ, and K272AR/BONNERS FERRY, ID).
