February 22, 2007 at 5:46 AM (PT)
GRAMMY-nominated audio and mix engineer ETHAN WILLOUGHBY was killed in a car accident on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 18, as a result of being hit by a drunk driver.
ETHAN began his career in music training as an assistant under his mentor, famed mix engineer DAVE PENSADO, at the ENTERPRISE STUDIO in NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA. While assisting DAVE, ETHAN worked on projects for PINK, CHRISTINA AGUILERA, BRIAN MCKNIGHT, JESSICA SIMPSON, MYA, LIONEL RICHIE and DESTINY'S CHILD as well as embarking on his first collaboration with JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE on TIMBERLAKE's debut album, "Justified." Most recently, ETHAN realized his life-long dream of being nominated for a GRAMMY before the age of 30, when he was recognized with the 2007 Album of the Year GRAMMY nomination for his engineering efforts on TIMBERLAKE's multi-platinum "Future Sex, Love Sounds."
ETHAN is survived by his wife, STEPHANIE COPER-WILLOUGHBY; daughters AVA and MYCHAELA; sister CATHERINE; and parents JOHN and BARBARA WILLOUGHBY. A memorial will be held in honor of ETHAN at MORNING VIEW STUDIOS in MALIBU, CA on SATURDAY (2/24) at 11a. For more information on the memorial services go to ethanwilloughby.com.
