Quad-Cities Morning Duo Have Day In Court
February 23, 2007 at 5:46 AM (PT)
ALL ACCESS first reported on the CLEAR CHANNEL vs. CUMULUS showdown over the services of a QUAD CITIES, IA morning duo (NET NEWS 2/14). Now QCONLINE.COM reports that personalities GREG DWYER and BILL MICHAELS were in a SCOTT COUNTY courtroom yesterday to defend themselves against a second "non-compete" lawsuit in 12 years.
The former QUAD CITIES top-rated morning show hosts are being sued by their former bosses at CLEAR CHANNEL, who say that broadcasting their show from the CUMULUS building in DAVENPORT -- as well as advertising and promoting the show here -- is a violation of the "non-compete" clause of the contract.
The hearing before District Court Judge GARY MCKENRICK took nearly five hours, and in the end MCKENRICK said he will issue a written ruling, but he did not say when.
