Retired TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS tough guy TIE DOMI is suing CORUS Classic Rock CILQ (Q107)/TORONTO morning man JOHN DERRINGER and the company for C$950,000 over alleged defamation. DOMI says that DERRINGER, on his OCTOBER 2 show, suggested that DOMI charged fees to appear at charity events, a charge DOMI vehemently denies.
DERRINGER's statement of defense says that the host did not make an allegation of fact but raised the question based on two sources and suggested that reporters look into the issue. DOMI, now a broadcaster for cable network TSN, sued Sports CFGO (TEAM 1200)/OTTAWA in 2004 over alleged defamation in a suit that was later dropped.
