HOUSTON-based roots music label COMPADRE RECORDS has been purchased by MUSIC WORLD ENTERTAINMENT (MWE), which is owned by BEYONCE's father, MATHEW KNOWLES. COMPADRE, whose roster includes BILLY JOE SHAVER and JAMES McMURTRY, will continue to sign rock, roots and country artists; all COMPADRE projects will be distributed in NORTH AMERICA through MWE's partnership with FONTANA DISTRIBUTION.
COMPADRE Founder BRAD TURCOTTE will remain President of the label and will add EVP duties at MWE. COMPADRE VP & Dir./A&R LOGAN ROGERS will assume Chief Creative Officer duties and be based in NASHVILLE. Veteran radio promoter KRISTIE VOGEL, most recently West Coast Regional for V2 RECORDS, will join COMPADRE as VP/Promotion, based in LOS ANGELES.
"I have admired COMPADRE's business accomplishments over the years and see incredible growth potential in the future with our acquisition," KNOWLES said. "They are a company that shares our goals and values, and we look forward to their team joining ours."
