Bridge Ratings Surveys Satellite Listeners

When news of a possible merger of the two satellite radio companies began surfacing in 2006, BRIDGE RATINGS initiated a series of radio consumer studies to determine the perceptions of both current subscribers and potential satellite radio subscribers. The official announcement on FEBRUARY 19 led them to a closer examination of the data they had been collecting.
BRIDGE learned that from both current and potential subscribers perspectives, the merger as they see it is not in the public interest. Some 87% of those responding expect subscription rate hikes, 65% expect a reduction in programming quality, and 82% are expecting a decrease in the number of available channels.
