Aussie Legend Billy Thorpe Dies

Influential AUSTRALIAN Rocker and THE AZTECS founder BILLY THORPE died today of a heart attack at SYDNEY's VINCENT HOSPTIAL. He was 60. THORPE's 40-year career was peppered with classic hits like "POISON IVY" and "OVER THE RAINBOW" in the mid-'60s, and then in the late '70s he sold over half a millions copies of his big U.S. radio hit "CHILDREN OF THE SUN."
Most recently he was completing a project entitled "TANGIER," which will be released posthumously as a CD and mulitmedia project featuring work done in MOROCCO with local musicians. THORPE is survived by his wife, LYNNE, and daughters LAUREN and RUSTY.
