ALL ACCESS sends condolences to the family and friends of former iHEARTMEDIA/NEW MEXICO Pres./Regional Market Manager CHUCK HAMMOND, who has died at the age of 72.
HAMMOND worked in the radio industry for more than 40 years, and was in his last post with iHEART from 2003 until his retirement in 2018 (NET NEWS 5/18/18). He was promoted from Market Mgr. for ALBUQUERQUE-SANTA FE to Regional VP for the state in 2006.
At the time of his retirement, HAMMOND said he planned to spend it with wife CARRI HAMMOND, as well as golfing, and making memories with his six grandchildren. His FACEBOOK page has some tributes here, with former employees remembering him as a great boss. Former colleague GREG STEVENS shared that, "CHUCK spent 40 years in broadcasting including time in PHOENIX, TAMPA and ALBUQUERQUE. He was Regional Market Manager for two dozen NM iHEART stations until he retired in 2018. From 2016 to 2018, CHUCK also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the NEW MEXICO BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION."
