After 23 years with GRAMMY-winning band STEEP CANYON RANGERS, founding member WOODY PLATT has announced plans to depart the group to step away from touring and stay closer to home. He will be playing his final shows with the YEP ROCK RECORDS-signed band over the next few months.
Since forming at the UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA at CHAPEL HILL in the late '90s, the acoustic Bluegrass group has released 13 studio albums, as well as three collaborative albums with actor/banjoist STEVE MARTIN. They have been inducted into the NORTH CAROLINA MUSIC HALL OF FAME, and earned three GRAMMY nominations and one win.
“Being a STEEP CANYON RANGER has been one of the highlights of my life!,” said PLATT. “I was so fortunate to meet a few wonderful friends in college while simultaneously reconnecting with childhood friends and together, from the ground up, we built something truly special! It’s been an honor and absolute joy to be a member of this band. I’m incredibly excited to see what gold lies ahead for my brothers in music."
