While the ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC (ACM) hasn't yet gotten a green light from AMAZON PRIME VIDEO for a renewal of their partnership for next year's ACM AWARDS, the trade group's executives are hopeful that positive statistics from this year's show (held on MARCH 7th in LAS VEGAS, and streamed for the first time on AMAZON rather than a traditional broadcast partner) will do the trick. They shared some of those statistics in a webinar for members YESTERDAY (4/26), titled "Streaming Success From the 57th ACM Awards and the Country Super Fan."
Leading the discussion were ACM CEO DAMON WHITESIDE, ACM AWARDS Exec. Producer RAC CLARK and LUMINATE's NOAH ELEWELL. While they did not share any audience numbers from the show, there were several nuggets of information regarding its social media reach. Among them, it was the #1 most social program across all of TV on MARCH 7th, was #3 trending organically on TWITTER on show night, and was the #1 driver of social video views for special programs across all of TV on the show date and the week after.
Additionally, the show generated more than 25 million impressions across @ACMAwards FACEBOOK, TWITTER and INSTAGRAM for show day content, up 3% from 2021. There were 14 million views of performance clips from the show shared on the @ACMAwards TIKTOK during the show, and 26.56 million on-demand streams of performed songs in the three days following the show. The show also generated 2.67 million engagements across @ACMAwards FACEBOOK, TWITTER and INSTAGRAM for show day content, up 52% from 2021.
Two final stats: The winning artists saw a 10 million increase in streams in the week after the show, and songs performed on the show saw a 132% increase in digital single sales week over week.
ELWELL shared statistics about what the Country music fan base looks like these days, noting that 67% are age 35 or older and 57% are female. The webinar panelists also noted that Country fans spend 56 hours monthly listening to music, which is four hours more than the average music listener. They are also 33% more likely to listen to AM/FM radio, with broadcast radio accounting for 24% of their monthly listening time.
The top five streaming platforms for Country music fans (per week) are: YOUTUBE (68%), SPOTIFY (44%), PANDORA (37%), AMAZON MUSIC (28%) and iHEARTRADIO (23%). Their top social networks are FACEBOOK (used by 75% of Country fans), INSTAGRAM (49%) and TIKTOK (38%).
