CANADA's COMPETITION BUREAU has informed CTVGLOBEMEDIA INC. that the regulator has not uncovered any reasons to block the company's C$1.7 billion purchase of CHUM LTD., according to the buyer. CRTC hearings on the deal are scheduled to begin APRIL 30.
CTVGLOBEMEDIA, formerly BELL GLOBEMEDIA, owns the CTV network and the GLOBE AND MAIL national paper, among other holdings, and would add several TV and radio stations and cable networks with the purchase of CHUM.
