MATTY SIEGEL announced this morning (5/3) that he is retiring after 41 years as morning man at iHEARTMEDIA Top 40 WXKS (KISS 108)/BOSTON. Longtime MATTY IN THE MORNING cast member BILLY COSTA will anchor the show going forward.
Recounting his "rough" past year ("I had brain surgery. I had a broken foot. I started getting a little grumpy on the radio, which I hate because all I want to do is make people laugh. That's my job, just to make people laugh, and I got off target, I guess you would say"), SIEGEL said he is retiring "and starting my new life as a mediocre golfer." "It's very possible that I might cry right now," SIEGEL said in his emotional farewell, adding, "it's been a wonderful run." "I agree with my family that it's time to walk away," he said, closing with a cheery "come visit me in FLORIDA!"
SIEGEL, 72, had been off the air for the last two weeks with no explanation .
