ENTERCOM Talk WRKO-A/BOSTON afternoon host HOWIE CARR was vocal in his disapproval of the hiring of convicted politician TOM FINNERAN for mornings at the station, and the BOSTON HERALD now reports that a joke FINNERAN told MASSACHUSETTS Governor DEVAL PATRICK has CARR writing a judge to get FINNERAN's probation revoked.
Last WEDNESDAY on his show, FINNERAN told PATRICK, "The governor and I are going to take HOWIE CARR for a ride. Three will leave, only two will come back. We’ll take a little pool on who it is," which CARR interpreted as a threat. "And by the way," FINNERAN added, "the staties [state police officers] are here and these are good guys. They ain’t going to be talking, either. I know. So it will be three in the car who leave, only two will come back. No questions will be asked." PATRICK responded by telling FINNERAN to "behave."
CARR tells the HERALD, for which he writes a column, "Real men don’t talk about putting people in trunks, they just do it." CARR is writing federal judge RICHARD STEARNS to complain about FINNERAN's comment, saying that the judge "ought to send [FINNERAN] to jail... That's where he belonged in the first place, and this just reiterates it." CARR's letter noted that he was a witness at FINNERAN's appellate court hearing in NOVEMBER 2004 and likened the on-air comments to witness intimidation.
