UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY men's basketball radio analyst MIKE PRATT needs some help to defray the cost of cancer treatment, and a fundraising effort is underway with support from some of the WILDCATS' most prominent figures, including Coach JOHN CALIPARI, play-by-play voice TOM LEACH, and retired stars DAN ISSEL and JACK GIVENS, along with KENTUCKY SPORTS RADIO's MATT JONES. The goal of the fundraiser is $95,000, with $34,157 raised as of TUESDAY afternoon.
PRATT, himself among UK's top 25 scorers of all time and radio analyst for the school since 2002, was diagnosed with cancer after a tumor was removed from his colon in JULY 2019, and the cancer spread, necessitating further treatment. Over the three years, PRATT has continued to call WILDCATS games and host his FRIDAY talk show with BOB VALVANO and daily show with ISSEL on UNION BROADCASTING Sports WHBE-A-F (ESPN 680)/LOUISVILLE. A bout of pneumonia while weakened by chemotherapy has led to plans to be treated by HOPE4CANCER starting on JUNE 16th.
The fundraiser is at givesendgo.com/mikepratt, and CALIPARI has vowed to match the first $50,000 in donations.
