March 6, 2007 at 9:23 AM (PT)
Major changes at CLEAR CHANNEL/CHICAGO as VP/Programming & Operations DARREN DAVIS announces that, "effective immediately, ELROY SMITH will concentrate his talents solely on Urban AC WVAZ (V103) as PD. ELROY took over the programming and operations reins at WVAZ in 2000 while he continued to oversee programming and operations duties for sister stations, Urban WGCI and Gospel WGRB-A (INSPIRATION 1390AM). We will now have the benefit of ELROY lending his expertise exclusively to programming WVAZ as we try to make WVAZ consistently the city's #1 rated Adult station.
"In addition, I am happy to announce the appointment of KRIS KELLEY to the position of PD of WGCI. KRIS is a bright talent who comes to us from CLEAR CHANNEL Urban WJLB/DETROIT, where she has served as APD/MD and middays since 1998. KRIS is a native of PHILADELPHIA and began her career at WAMO/PITTSBURGH. She'll lead the charge at WGCI to keep the station #1 among persons 18-34 and 12+ and to grow the station to new levels.
"Both ELROY and KRIS, along with the other PDs, will report directly to me. Please join me in welcoming both ELROY and KRIS to their new responsibilities together with the current programming team at CLEAR CHANNEL/CHICAGO: SONYA BLAKEY (PD, WGRB-A INSPIRATION 1390AM); RICK GILLETTE (PD, WKSC 1035KISSFM); EFFIE ROLFE (APD/MD, WGRB-A INSPIRATION 1390AM); ARMANDO RIVERA (APD/MD, WVAZ V103); RICK O'DELL (APD/MD, Smooth Jazz WNUA); ERIC RICHEKE (APD/MD, AC WLIT); and SMASH (APD/MD, WKSC). We are extremely excited to have the right people in place to further achieve our ratings and revenue growth and development."
